You’d be surprised how labor-intensive this page was. I’m always
amused annoyed to find out how much the amount of detail does not necessarily dictate the level of challenge in a page of comics.
The first paycheck (and the first publication offer) I ever got in comics came from Joey Manley, human whirlwind and erstwhile webcomics impresario. Many people who are now longtime friends and colleagues of mine could probably say the same. He offered me a spot at Girlamatic.com, where my first book, Bite Me, was serialized.
News this evening is that he’s died, very suddenly, of pneumonia.
